Worldwide Celebration of the Green Wave 2015

OISCA holds photo exhibition in Hong Kong

 

OISCA International and OISCA Hong Kong in cooperation with the Yuen Long Town Hall, Hong Kong organized on May 29, 2015 “Green Wave 2015 & Partnership Ceremony”. The event held at the Yuen Long Town Hall was attended by about 200 people including children from the 9 local schools participating in the Green Wave campaign and also officials from the Development Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) and representatives from educational organizations. The participants made presentations on their activities and exchanged views on future programs.

At the event site, photo panels on the OISCA activities produced with the support of NIKON Corporation were exhibited. The photos featuring worldwide forest development activities including Children’s Forest Program (CFP) drew a strong interest among the visitors. In the future, the photo panels will be exhibited in other places such as YMCA and is expected to promote understanding on and participation in the activities of OISCA and the Green Wave.

The Green Wave is a global campaign for promoting the conservation of biological diversity conducted mainly on May 22, the International Day for Biological Diversity. Since 2008, OISCA has been

actively conducting the campaign through the CFP participating schools, and up to FY 2014, a total of about 47,000 people in 20 countries took part. Also in FY 2015, there have been many participants both in Japan and foreign countries who are carrying out a variety of activities such as planting indigenous and rare species of trees and taking care of the planted trees.
