Towards activities spreading

from children to adults

This school which has 162 students is located in Khulna, the third largest city in Bangladesh. It joined CFP in 2016, but until then, the students were not so interested in environmental activities. The teachers, however, felt a sense of crisis over the natural disasters which frequently occurred in the country in recent years and started activities in the hope of minimizing damage even a little.

In the first tree planting activity, they planted trees which have low mortality rate, which are saline tolerant and which protect from strong wind. As the students tell their family about the tree planting activity, the parents are also getting interested in the conservation of environment. In the future, they plan to plant palm trees which can protect from thunderbolt damage. They are also planning to organize orientation and training in organic farming and holding arts and essay competition centering on the environment. Since the activities have just started, the school intends to carry out awareness programs for students and also the local community.
