Children enjoying organic agriculture practice

Pleasantly practicing delicious vegetable growing!

This school is located in the rural area away from the city. The school has carried out various activities for over 20 years since it joined CFP. In recent years, it has conducted tree planting focused on fruit bearing trees, the nutrition source for children and also ornamental trees for beautification of the village.

The parents of school children are mostly engaged in agriculture, but the children don’t really know the harmful effects of fertilizers and agricultural chemicals used in agriculture.

In the CFP activities, therefore, they taught the children skills and knowhow on simple agriculture practices from bed preparation to seed sowing and management which can be done in school and at home.

Ms. Adi Mere, 13-years old grade 8 student, said: I am fond of organic agriculture through which we can produce delicious vegetables. The CFP program has broadened my knowledge and improved skills in tree planting and gardening.” In 2016, aside from organic agricultural activities, they planted fruit bearing trees and also built fences to stop stray animals such as cows and horses from eating the planted seedlings. In 2017, they plan to continue tree planting focused on fruit bearing trees for school beautification.
